“The rural landscapes of my home county of North Leicestershire and frequently visited coastal regions of West Somerset and South West Ireland are the inspiration for my landscape imagery. The landscape markings made by animal tracks, man’s machinery and weather erosion have influenced my approach to making paintings and prints. Bird and animal symbolism are also a strong feature of my work, and of our landscape, one is not present without the other. All these references lend their patterns to abstract shapes, and documenting these, sometimes very subtle ‘scars’ on the land is something that I am continually fascinated by.”

“Henrietta excels in a form of quiet abstraction of landscape shapes, which is achieved by layered and scraped paint. The work is distinct in the very nature of its process and the utilisation of a limited palette. The resulting images betray their history, they are clearly not produced in one go.” (Philip Tregoning)
