Hilary Adair was born in Sussex and studied painting and printmaking at Brighton and St.Martin’s Schools of Art. Then followed 5 years as Visiting Lecturer at various colleges of art before moving to Greece. For the next 11 years she was based in Athens, where the British Council presented her first solo exhibition. Her studio is on Exmoor in Somerset, where she develops ideas for paintings using watercolour, oils and acrylics. Also known as a printmaker, her work has been widely exhibited and in 1987 she was elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. Her prints are regularly exhibited at the Bankside Gallery, London. She is a member of the Somerset Printmakers.
