Judith first started painting whilst living in Scotland, finding inspiration in the dramatic mountains and seascapes. After relocating, the strikingly different landscape of West Somerset, with its rolling hills became her muse. She began to paint the hedgerows, flowers and landscapes around her, often sitting out in the wheat fields with their stubble after harvest. She started to explore painting in a naive style, using gouache and watercolour, and producing prints, cards and limited edition prints of Dunster and Porlock.
Recently she has rediscovered a love of oil paints. Using her keen skills as a colourist, she creates immersive paintings of gardens. The vibrant colours and impasto perfectly capture the energy and life of flowers bursting into bloom.
Judith has exhibited several times as part of Somerset Arts Week, both in group exhibition and open studio events.
