Eric Wards Seascapes, nude studies and interior scenes continue the traditions of the St Ives School of Painting, with its focus on both realism and impressionistic depiction of light and colour.
Having worked as a fisherman, a Lifeboatman and as the harbor master of St Ives, Wards childhood love of art led him to paint the unique Cornish landscape and scenes of everyday life in which he was immersed.
In 1987 he studied painting at St Ives School of Painting, and his work began to gain widespread recognition in 1989 with his first one-man exhibition in London. In 1992, Ward was featured in a highly acclaimed BBC 2 Documentary about his life and work, ‘Oils and Oilskins.’ Since then he has exhibited widely both in the UK and internationally, and has become one of Cornwall’s most collectable Artists.
