TIM GODDEN

Tim Godden is an artist and historian, living and working from a National Trust estate in North Devon. He studied at Norwich School of Art and Design, before going on to complete further academic study, culminating in a PhD in Architecture from the University of Kent.

His work and academic research is inspired by the layering of stories across a landscape, and by themes of memory and experience in relation to the architecture and landscape. His work explores the stark lines and textures created by architectural intervention against the natural forms of the surrounding and it is this tension that he seeks to reflect in response to these places. Tim works principally using a combination of watercolour, gouache and inks to create collaged pieces.

Prior to his progression into fine art Tim has been an illustrator for the last decade, working principally on projects relating to the the two world wars of the twentieth century. He has worked alongside museums, heritage bodies, and publishers, and his work is held in a number of permanent collections around the world.

Tim has exhibited and lectured on both his artwork and research across Europe.
