Since being invited for her first solo show at Century gallery in Henley on Thames, Caroline has successfully exhibited with many leading London and provincial galleries for the past 15 years, including The Blackheath gallery and David Curzon gallery in London, and Ringstead gallery Norfolk.
Her work has become increasingly sought after, with examples in collections throughout the UK and overseas. Caroline’s principal aims are to portray the light, colour, and atmosphere of the landscape with an honest and spontaneous approach, resulting in a striking and vibrant painting.
Artist statement: “My work reflects my love for places I have visited, usually on holiday, but sometimes on specific trips at other times of the year. I work mainly from sketches, memory, and intuition, trying to recreate a feeling and atmosphere that I felt at the time. Many elements come together in making a painting successful, colour and tone, line and edge, composition and texture, but there is also that unknown factor which makes a painting special. I feel very lucky to live in Somerset.”
