IAN PRICE

Ian Price takes inspiration from his immediate surroundings, often painting outdoors in oils before developing larger, more abstract works in the studio. Originally from rural Carmarthenshire, he now paints around the River Severn from his home in Portishead, as well as during visits to Exmoor.

Working primarily in oils and using a limited palette, he seeks to capture the beauty of Somerset’s estuarine landscape and rugged coastline. Alongside his landscape practice, he enjoys the representational challenges of portraiture. He has completed numerous portrait commissions and has exhibited portraits at the Royal West of England Academy, the Mall Galleries and the Holburne Museum.

Ian was recently elected a member of the Bath Society of Artists. His landscapes and portraits have been exhibited widely across the South West and beyond, including at the RWA Open Exhibition, exhibitions of the Bath Society of Artists, and at the Mall Galleries in London with several national art societies, including the New English Art Club, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Wales Contemporary.

Alongside his own artistic practice, he organises and teaches courses in portraiture and landscape painting.
