“As well as the classically inspired still lives of fruit and vegetables, I also enjoy using different approaches, for example in paintings of stones and driftwood and flowers. Occasional digressions into the whimsical and surreal and a fascination with the geometry, pattern and visual dynamics of the natural world ensure a constant and varied source of inspiration.
Still life painting in the 21st century? Why try to capture, with paint, the character and personality of these natural and man-made objects in an age where seductive photographic images would seem to do it with such ease?
