LEY ROBERTS

Originally from North Cornwall Ley Roberts studied at Falmouth School of Art and later at Kingston University. After leaving college Ley quickly established herself as a successful designer based in London, and for a decade she worked in the fashion and textile industry.The arrival of a family brought her back to her home county. Here she re-established her arts practice as well as illustrating children’s books.Over the course of the last 20 years Ley has developed and nurtured a body of contemporary work that has been inspired by Cornwall’s rugged landscape, it’s trees and rivers, and specifically the Tamar Valley where she lives and works. Ley captures the essence of this place, fleeting moments and the beauty of the everyday. Shifts of light, movement and stillness are all present in her atmospheric etchings and drawings. Ley’s work appears in private collections worldwide.
